Over 150 passionate individuals from The Hepatitis C Trust and our partner organisations came together to make waves at Skegness Beach on 28 July for The Big Splash!
To mark World Hepatitis Day, members of the Hepatitis C Trust dived into the sea in a powerful show of unity, energy, and commitment to eliminating hepatitis C in the UK. This symbolic and spirited sea dip brought people from all walks of life together, from frontline workers, peer supporters’ worker, campaigners and people with lived experience of hepatitis C, all making one massive splash to raise awareness of the virus and celebrate progress made with elimination.
Debbie Moores, Hepatitis C National Co Ordinator at Waythrough said:
“I was delighted to take part in the ‘Big Splash’ in Skegness to raise awareness of Hep C and to focus on the progress already made to eliminate the virus despite many challenges. As an ambassador for the Hep C Trust, I fully embrace the contribution that paid and unpaid colleagues have made and continue to make as we get closer to NHSE’s ambitious target to eliminate Hepatitis C in England by the end of 2025.”

In 2025, with elimination within reach, events like this remind us and local communities, how far we’ve come. The Big Splash was a celebration of the collaboration for the fight against Hepatitis C:
- Thousands supported through testing and treatment
- Lives have been changed by peer-led services
- It has raised awareness across communities
Together, we can eliminate hepatitis C and have a little fun while we do it.
