New Vision Bradford has officially achieved micro-elimination of Hepatitis C, marking a landmark milestone for the service, its partners, and the wider city. This achievement reflects years of determination, innovation, and a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for some of the most vulnerable people in the community.
Expanding Testing and Access to Treatment
Since Waythrough, formerly Humankind, began delivering New Vision Bradford in 2023, the team has focused on increasing Hepatitis C testing and helping more people access treatment.
In recent years, the team has worked hard to identify people who had not yet been tested, guide them through the testing process, and reduce barriers to treatment. This has reduced the number of people still needing testing or treatment to a very small group. The remaining cases involve more complex circumstances, including end-of-life care, clinical challenges, or people who are not yet ready to begin treatment.
A Significant Turnaround
This progress represents one of the most significant turnarounds achieved within the ODN area. With nearly 3,000 clients, New Vision Bradford is one of the largest services to meet all four Hepatitis C elimination criteria. Achieving micro‑elimination reduces opportunities for transmission and helps create a safer environment for everyone who accesses support through the service.
