We’ve had an incredibly rewarding few weeks connecting with our communities through two impactful events focused on liver health and wellbeing.
Spen Valley High School – Community Fun Day
On Wednesday 8 April, we joined the Fun Day at Spen Valley High School, hosted by CGL. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with around 50 attendees and share important information about hepatitis and liver health.
Throughout the day, we:
- Provided advice, support, and information
- Carried out 13 tests (Hepatitis B & C)
- Supported individuals concerned about family members living with liver disease, signposting them to trusted resources such as the British Liver Trust and the West Yorkshire Liver Care website
- Encouraged attendees to access further support through our mobile clinic and Fibroscan services, sharing QR codes for upcoming events in Bradford and home testing options for Hepatitis C.
It was a great chance to raise awareness and help people take proactive steps towards better liver health.
Hale Bradford – Women’s Health Event
More recently, we were proud to take part in Hale Bradford’s Women’s Health Event, alongside a range of inspiring organisations supporting the local community.
During the event, we:
- Engaged with around 50 women
- Provided 35 Hepatitis tests
- Offered guidance on liver health and access to Fibroscan services
The event had a fantastic turnout of 80 women and featured a wide range of support services, including housing advice, energy support, gambling support, and dedicated spaces for Asian women to access tailored help. The Wellbeing and Living Well Team also delivered blood pressure checks, promoting preventative healthcare.
Why These Events Matter
Both events highlighted the importance of collaboration and community engagement in improving health outcomes. By meeting people where they are, we can break down barriers, reach those who may not otherwise access healthcare.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to continue this work and look forward to bringing more liver health awareness and viral Hepatitis testing opportunities to communities across West Yorkshire in the coming months.
