This summer, the West Yorkshire Liver Care ODN worked alongside partners across the region to bring health awareness, support, and connection directly into local communities. With our Community Liver Health Checks Team – Liver Buddies leading the way, each event helped strengthen relationships and open conversations about wellbeing.

Throughout June, the team supported dementia awareness events in Holt Park and Wetherby, connected with Leeds’ Chinese community through Health for All, and spent time with residents at Wakefield Soup Kitchen. In July, they continued building trust at the Chinese Community Event and joined the Morley Health and Wellbeing Day to promote preventive care. By August, the focus shifted to youth, sport, and neighbourhood pride – from the Agbrigg Health Drive to Bradford BYO Youth, Nanus Sports Foundation at Henry Barran Centre, and Holbeck Together.

A Season of Shared Purpose
Across June, July, and August, the Community Liver Health Checks Team – Liver Buddies played a vital role in strengthening awareness, reducing stigma, and bringing liver health conversations directly into the heart of West Yorkshire communities. Whether in a town hall, sports centre, cultural event, or local kitchen, their presence ensured that every interaction was supportive, accessible, and rooted in genuine care.
