We’re delighted to announce that Recovery Steps Calderdale, part of the Waythrough organisation, has successfully revalidated their Hepatitis C micro-elimination status. This milestone builds on the service’s initial elimination declaration in July 2024 and marks a continued commitment to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of communities across Calderdale.
As the first drug service within the West Yorkshire to achieve micro-elimination, Recovery Steps Calderdale continues to lead by example. The revalidation underscores the team’s sustained efforts to identify, test, and support clients through effective treatment pathways, delivered in close collaboration with Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, the Hepatitis C Trust, and the ODN.
This achievement reflects the strength of a multi-disciplinary approach at Recovery Steps, supported by the expertise of Waythrough’s dedicated Hepatitis C Co-ordinators Debbie Moores National Coordinator, Caroline Martin, and Darren Bloomfield, Regional Coordinators and the vital contribution of Hepatitis C Champions across the service. Together, they have ensured that all four elimination criteria are not only met but consistently upheld, setting a benchmark for excellence across the ODN.
“I am delighted that Calderdale Recovery Steps have been able to revalidate Hepatitis C micro- elimination in 2025. Determination and persistence alongside collaborative work with partners and a commitment to continued testing and treatment, have helped us to improve health outcomes for our clients and the wider community”.

“Congratulations to all involved in helping Recovery Steps Calderdale re-validate their Hepatitis C micro-elimination status. This is no mean feat and requires a lot of work from multiple agencies. Nationally, for Hepatitis C micro-elimination, we work with circa 150 Drug & Alcohol Services, of which year to date 67 have achieved micro-elimination & 33 have re-validated their micro-elimination status”.
