The West Yorkshire Liver Care Operational Delivery Network (ODN) hosted a innovative workshop on Hepatitis B and D on Wednesday 19 November 2025 at the Novotel Leeds Centre. Facilitated by ODN Clinical Lead Dr Mark Aldersley, the event brought together more than 50 colleagues from across the region for an afternoon of learning, discussion, and collaboration.
The workshop provided an in-depth exploration of Hepatitis B and D, covering epidemiology, testing approaches, and clinical complications. Attendees reviewed existing referral pathways for Hepatitis B and discussed how lessons learned from Hepatitis C could inform future service delivery and improvements in care for hepatitis B pathways.
Interactive case study group work enabled participants to identify practical opportunities to strengthen local pathways and enhance patient outcomes. The discussions highlighted the importance of regional partnership working and the shared commitment to improving viral hepatitis services across West Yorkshire.
Workshop highlights included:
- Expert input from Hepatology Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists
- Lively, inclusive discussion among participants
- Case study group work supporting practical decision making
Dr Mark Aldersley, ODN Clinical Lead, commented:
“This workshop was an invaluable opportunity to bring colleagues together to share expertise and strengthen our collective approach to Hepatitis B and D care. The insights gained will help us build on existing pathways and ensure patients across West Yorkshire receive the best possible support.”
The event, sponsored by Gilead, was preceded by a networking lunch that allowed colleagues from different organisations to connect and strengthen professional relationships.
Diane Williams West Yorkshire Liver Care ODN Manager added:
“The collaborative energy and practical ideas shared during the workshop will play a vital role in shaping the next steps for improving viral hepatitis care across the ODN.”
