On 17th April 2025, the Community Liver Health Checks team held a liver health event at WomenZone in Bradford. Working with the nurses from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Rizwanna and Charlie, and Lakhbir, our dedicated peer from the Hepatitis C Trust, the team offered attendees the opportunity to have a liver fibroscan and a test for hepatitis C at the event.
WomenZone is a registered charity and Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) based in Bradford Moor. Founded in 2003 by local women, it aims to combat social exclusion by providing a safe, women-only space offering services that promote empowerment, inclusion, and wellbeing.

WomenZone primarily supports women from South Asian backgrounds and focuses on under-represented communities across Bradford East and beyond. While its core mission is to support women, it also adopts a whole-family approach by including sessions for male family members, ensuring a broader, more sustainable impact.
The event was well received and attended by the local community, on the day we were able to fibroscan 25 people, and 20 attendees also had a Hepatitis C test.
Feedback from the group organiser was very positive they commented, “It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with another section of our community.”
