A new community-led project, Don’t Forget About B, is bringing hepatitis B information and rapid testing directly into Leeds neighbourhoods. Funded by Fast Track Cities Leeds, the initiative aims to boost awareness, increase testing and support early diagnosis among communities facing barriers to healthcare.
Working with cultural organisations, faith groups and community leaders, the programme will offer point-of-care testing in trusted spaces such as places of worship, community centres and local festivals. A dedicated Peer Support Worker, Katie Dyke, will help people understand hepatitis B, access testing and stay connected to appropriate NHS liver care.
By centring trust, lived experience and community partnerships, Don’t Forget About B supports Leeds’ ambition to reduce health inequalities and end new viral hepatitis infections by 2030.
